Class captains play an integral role at SMS, and volunteering for this position is a wonderful way to become involved in your child's class. There are up to three class captains per teacher.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Forwarding emails regarding class information and important PTA information (including recruiting and assembling volunteers) on a timely basis

• Collecting classroom contributions and organizing teacher gifts

• Assisting with organized class events as needed

• Organizing “Teacher Appreciation Week” for your teacher with the guidance of the PTA

• Serving as a support to your teacher and assisting with their requests

NOTE:  All class captain spots are FULL for the 2024/2025 school year except for Fortunato/Colatruglio/Hood.

We will ask those selected as class captains to attend an orientation meeting on September 27th in the Big School Cafeteria right after morning drop-off (8:15 a.m.).  If you are unable to attend, please contact Mary Broydrick or Jen Elliott at southmountainpta.membership@gmail.com.
