Get ready for our biggest event of 2025—the Fall Festival! Enjoy fresh beats from DJ Lou, delicious fall favorites, games with Mr. K and Mr. Tait, festive crafts, family photo sessions with Peter Collura, and so much more. Don’t miss the fun! 

Pre-order Wristbands and Food Tickets

Skip the lines and save money!  Pre-purchased wristbands come with three free food tickets! 

Wristbands allow kids to participate in the various crafts, games, and other Festival fun. Grownups and children 5 and younger do not need to buy wristbands. Tickets are needed for food and beverages for both children and adults. Wristbands and tickets will also be available for purchase at the event.

Pre-orders will be available until Thursday, October 23 @ 8:00pm. 

Pre-ordered wristbands/tickets will be delivered to classrooms and come home in backpacks on Friday, October 24. Purchase HERE.

Volunteers Badly Needed!

As of now, we have nowhere near enough volunteers to make this event happen.  Please sign up to help us pull it off!  Shifts are only 30 minutes long, and there are lots of different ways to participate. 

Family Photos - Numerous Spots Remain!

Don't miss the chance to get festive, professional shots of your family taken by photographer Peter Collura.  Reserve a time in advance to guarantee your spot.  Walk-ups will be accommodated to the extent that time allows.   

DONATIONS NEEDED for the Clothing, Gear, and Halloween Costume Swap

Donate your kids’ gently used clothes, shoes, costumes, and/or sports gear at designated drop-off locations before the Festival. Then “shop” the Swap at the event - for free - whether or not you donated. All items must be clean and in excellent condition. Find drop-off locations and other details HERE.

Admission wristbands/food tickets are available for any child who wishes to participate. If purchasing is a hardship, please contact Principal Mason (kmason@somsd.k12.nj.us) or School Social Worker, Shazaan Napoleon (snapoleo@somsd.k12.nj.us) for complimentary ones.  All such requests are kept confidential.

Important Tips & Reminders

PTA Homepage:  Please bookmark: https://smsuperstars.com.  Here you'll find school supply lists, volunteer opportunities, contact information for school staff, and the school calendar.  If you sign up to receive calendar updates, you can arrange for your personal calendar to be autopopulated with the school district and/or SMS calendar, including days off and school events.

PowerSchool:  https://somsd.powerschool.com/public.  The school district transmits teacher assignments, report cards and forms via the PowerSchool parent portal.

Changes in dismissal:  If you plan to vary your normal dismissal method on a given day, such as having your child picked up early or by someone else, notify the school of the change by emailing smsASAP@somsd.k12.nj.us and your child's teacher.

Absences:  Report your child absent by calling the school and leaving a detailed message per the prompts.  Reach the Annex at 973-378-2801 and the Big School at 973-378-5216.

Update Your Account Information

Don't forget to update your family's account information for this school year on our homepage.  Even if you registered in the past, you must update your account each year in order to activate your account status and to ensure that you receive the most up-to-date and relevant information from us.

To update and activate your account, sign in to My Account and complete the Parent/Guardian and Student Information.
