Spring Mixer Season Is Almost Here!

2/16/2026 11:43 am

Tickets go on sale week of March 23, and this year’s lineup is already shaping up to be a blast. Think: 2nd Grade Olympics, an oyster porch fest, picnic and ice cream with teachers, flower arranging, and more!

Have a fun idea of your own? There’s still time to host! Mixers are one of our most meaningful and most fun fundraisers of the year. They’re flexible, creative, and easy to fit into your schedule—truly, any idea works.

Hosting runs from mid-March through early June, and anyone can join in.
• Hosts cover the event costs as their donation
• Guests buy tickets to attend
100% of ticket sales go straight to the PTA

Interested in hosting or want to learn more? Sign up here or reach out to April Atherton or Liz Meny with any questions. Let’s make this the most fun Mixer season yet!

Join the Fun of World Fest!

2/16/2026 11:43 am

World Fest is our biennial celebration of the kaleidoscope of cultures at SMS and in SOMA.

The event is a free potluck - we invite families to bring food representing their culture/heritage.  And we organize live performers to share music, dance, and other cultural arts from around the world.

The goal is to bring our community together to honor its diversity, promote understanding, and foster a strong sense of belonging for all of us.

We can't make it happen without you!  Please:

SIGN UP to bring a dish to share.  From your culture/heritage, or something you enjoy from another!  We'd love to represent and sample as broad a range as possible!

Volunteer to perform.  We welcome adult and student performers alike.  Email us at ptasouthmountain@gmail.com if you’re interested.

We hope you will help us create a fun and meaningful celebration!

Green Team Updates

Compost Volunteers Needed

Thanks to all who have volunteered for the composting program!  Our students have diverted over 2,400 lbs of food waste from landfills since we launched composting in October  That's a lot of sandwich crusts and orange peels!

Because the kids largely have the hang of it, we will be reducing our volunteer coverage to 1 volunteer per time slot.  Please consider signing up to support this important sustainability effort (bonus perk: a midday sighting of your student in their natural habitat). Slots are now open through the end of April:
